Success at FIDAE for Airbus with A350 XWB
With the A350 XWB recently starting operations in the region with TAM, it was the perfect time to showcase the most modern airliner in the world at FIDAE (Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio), Latin America’s iconic air show taking place biennially in Santiago, Chile. From March 28 to April 1, this year’s show welcomed the world’s most important representatives from commercial, defense, aerospace sectors and beyond. Among these was Airbus, a loyal participant in FIDAE for nearly 20 years.
Rafael Alonso, Airbus President for Latin America, kicked off the week with a press conference on the Airbus Global Market Forecast for Latin America to a packed room of journalists from throughout the region. Alonso announced that Latin America’s fleet will more than double (to nearly 3,000) in the next 20 years.
But the optimistic regional forecast wasn’t the only captivating Airbus headline at FIDAE. This year, Airbus showcased the A350 XWB for the first time, and from the minute its wheels hit the tarmac, the test aircraft was among the most popular attractions at the show.
Throughout the week, the A350 XWB was featured in static displays and Airbus’ cabin marketing team led tours for press, airline customers, government and aviation officials wanting to see the world’s most modern airliner. In partnership with IATA’s Wings of Change organization, Airbus hosted a demonstration flight for aviation leaders aboard the A350 XWB, flying over the majestic Andes Mountains and Chilean coast. Airbus closed the week with a special tour for children from a nearby elementary school as part of LATAM’s social responsibility program “Un Dia en LAN.”
Until 2018, FIDAE!
