Azul takes delivery of Americas’ first A330neo
On May 10th, the first A330neo donned the skies in Azul colors, after taking off from Toulouse for its maiden flight to Brazil.
Leased from Avolon, the new generation aircraft will be soon deployed to support Azul's growing network, mainly covering the Florida - Portugal route. The A330-900 offers passengers with the latest innovations in cabin comfort and entertainment, while providing the airline operating cost efficiency with 25 percent lower fuel burn as compared to previous generation aircraft.
The A330neo, launched in 2014, capitalizes on a strong base of 125 A330 operators making the A330 Family the most popular and versatile widebody family. Besides, the two products share the same type rating for pilots, same cabin crew, same maintenance, ground and flight operations as well as unbeatable commonality on spares and tooling for a seamless transition and flexibility of operations.
But the NEO is not only a New Engine Option. In addition to the latest Trent 7000 engines from Rolls-Royce, the aircraft features a brand new high-span wing with optimized aerodynamics, integrates A350XWB technology and cockpit functionalities and incorporates the award-winning Airspace cabin, guaranteeing consistent design and passenger experience across the Airbus widebody family.
By taking delivery of their first A330neo, Azul also received its first brand new widebody aircraft from the Airbus factory, complementing its fleet of seven A330-200 and its fast growing fleet of A320neo.
